Does the requirement apply to me?
Are you planning to admit into an Oregon University? Did you graduate high school (or G.E.D) in or after 1997? If you answer yes to both, then you need to review the second language admission requirement. There are 15 ways to meet the admission requirement. Two common ways include:
- passed 2 years of second language in high school
or
- passed 2 terms of second language in college (for example Spanish 101 and 102 ~ course numbering systems vary by college)
Can exceptions be made to meeting the requirement?
According to Oregon University System (OUS) at the link below the answer is yes. Students without two years of a second language can be admitted by exception. However, students admitted by exception must make up the admission deficiency prior to degree completion.

What if I want to earn a Bachelor's of Arts degree?
Bachelor of Arts at an Oregon University generally requires college students to also continue through the second year sequence of foreign language (for example Spanish 201, 202 and possibly 203). If you are fluent in a second language, ask your academic advisor about taking the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test for college credit or other options.
